A Hungarian diplomat, who until recently worked as an ambassador in Vienna, has now been dismissed from the service because of a showpiece affair. Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto confirmed the identity of the Hungarian media.
The Ambassador had been seen passing through the city with a 250,000-euro Aston Martin Vanquish luxury car. Previously, the Austrian boulevard portal „oe24.at“ under the title „These protz diplomats roll with luxury car through Vienna“ published a reader photo of the car.
Luxury car was apparently registered only on ambassador
However, at the request of the portal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the car was not owned by the Ministry but had been „purchased from its own resources for its own use“. According to information from the Hungarian portal „magyarhang.org“, the luxury car is admitted to the former ambassador, but is used by an Austrian businessman.
