The EU has called a special meeting of interior ministers to coordinate the reception of war refugees from Ukraine. According to the first item on the agenda of the consultations on March 28 in Brussels, material and financial support for host countries will be at stake. In addition, questions of external border protection and security as well as the reception of refugees arriving in Moldova will be discussed.
The total number of people who have fled Ukraine since the beginning of the war was recently estimated by the UN refugee agency at more than 3.2 million. The EU country of Poland alone has taken in more than two million of them.
