For the first time in the history of the CDU, three promising candidates compete for the succession of Angela Merkel on the party leadership: The Health Minister Jens Spahn, the Secretary General Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, and lobbyist Friedrich Merz, who with his candidacy a return to politics tries.
