Tiefensee re-elected
Tiefensee: „We have to grow, not only in the surveys, but also in our work.“ He was subsequently re-elected as the country’s chairman of the SPD. The former mayor of Leipzig and Federal Minister of Transport received 89.5 percent of the vote.
The 63-year-old, who belongs to the red-red-green state government in Erfurt since 2014, had taken over the presidency in March. At that time he was elected with 78.5 percent of the vote. Tiefensee had taken over the state presidency after Erfurt Lord Mayor Andreas Bausewein had left office in early 2018.
Bad poll numbers
