The Italian government today won a vote of confidence in a controversial security and immigration package by Interior Minister Matteo Salvini. The cabinet asserted itself with the vote of confidence in the senate with 163 against 59. Nine senators abstained from the voice. The package still has to be approved by the Chamber of Deputies.
