In Pakistan, the death sentence against the Christin Asia Bibi has been lifted for blasphemy. The country’s Supreme Court acquitted the woman whose case had caused a stir internationally today. „She was acquitted of all allegations,“ said Judge Saqib Nisar. She will be released immediately.
The multiple mother was sentenced to death in 2010 in Punjab province for insulting the Prophet Muhammad. Muslim women from her village had accused her of having insulted Muhammad in the dispute. The death sentence caused indignation internationally.
