The prominent US immunologist Anthony Fauci expects coronavirus vaccinations for children of all ages by the beginning of next year at the latest. „I believe that by the first quarter of 2022 we will be able to vaccinate children of practically all ages,“ said US President Joe Biden’s CoV advisor to CNN yesterday. „Hopefully before that, but I think that will be the latest time.“

For children and adolescents aged twelve and over, he assumes that vaccinations will be available at the beginning of the coming school year. Currently, adolescents aged 16 and over cannot be vaccinated in the United States.

According to the CDC health authority, around 130 million citizens (50.4 percent) over the age of 18 have been vaccinated with at least one dose. Around 84 million adults already have full vaccination protection, that is 32.5 percent of all adults.
Consultations on Johnson & Johnson

With a view to the suspended vaccinations with the active ingredient from Johnson & Johnson in the USA, the immunologist said he did not want to anticipate the decision of the CDC and the FDA.

However, he believes that the active ingredient will be used again – possibly with certain warnings and restrictions. He hopes that a decision will be made on Friday and that it will not be delayed any further.

On Friday, a CDC advisory committee wants to discuss how to proceed. No decision on a possible continuation, lifting or partial lifting of the vaccination ban with the active ingredient from Johnson & Johnson in the USA is expected before a recommendation is made by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).

The CDC and FDA recommended a temporary suspension of vaccinations with this active ingredient on Tuesday after six cases of cerebral vein thrombosis were recorded in the United States. The US pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson then delayed the market launch of its vaccine in Europe and temporarily suspended all ongoing studies with vaccinations with the active ingredient.
