The Serbian police intervened over the weekend in several Belgrade entertainment venues against parties with hundreds of participants. The reason was the disregard of the current CoV regulations, as the Serbian media reported today. On Saturday, the agency disbanded a gathering of 1,000 people at a club in central Tasmajdan Park.
Yesterday the police cleared a popular bar on the old exhibition grounds in the suburb of Novi Beograd, where 600 young people celebrated. In another raid on a club on the outskirts of Zvezdara, officials came across 150 partygoers.
Multiple arrests
The police arrested at least five alleged organizers and three men who defied the official acts. In Serbia, there is a comparatively mild lockdown due to the pandemic. Restaurants and entertainment venues are allowed to open until 8 p.m. In addition, minimum clearances must be observed.
In the period from January 25th to February 7th, the EU authority ECDC recorded 24,278 new infections in Serbia. This corresponds to an infection rate of 350 per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days (14-day incidence). Since the beginning of the pandemic, 4,230 deaths have been reported in the country with just under seven million inhabitants.
