In the race for access to coronavirus vaccines, the World Health Organization (WHO) has criticized the fact that so far 95 percent of all vaccinations have only been given in ten countries. All countries that are able to do so should work for a fair distribution of vaccines, said WHO Director for Europe, Hans Kluge. He called for more solidarity from Europe, without naming the front runners in vaccinations.

According to an analysis of the “Our World in Data” website, these include Germany, Israel, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, the USA, China and Russia.

Kluge highlighted the „tremendous efforts“ the WHO and its partners are making to ensure that every country has access to vaccine. Among other things, he referred to the Covax initiative, which has set itself the goal of providing vaccination doses for the 92 poorest countries in the world.
