More than 20 million infections with the virus have been detected in the United States since the coronavirus pandemic began. This corresponds to around a quarter of all infections with the SARS-CoV-2 pathogen recorded worldwide, as data from the University of Johns Hopkins in the US city of Baltimore revealed yesterday. In no other country in the world are there as many confirmed infections in absolute terms as in the USA.
In India the number is 10.3 million and in Brazil 7.7 million. Experts assume a high number of unreported cases in most countries. Around 330 million people live in the USA. More than 346,000 deaths related to the disease Covid-19 are known there.
