There were also 15,362 new infections within one day. This brings the total number of reported cases to more than 924,000.

The country has around 38 million inhabitants. Poland is now preparing coronavirus mass tests after Slovakia and Italy. Health Minister Adam Niedzielski said the population in three regions should be examined on a voluntary basis with rapid antibody tests.

The tests are planned in the administrative districts of Lesser Poland, Subcarpathian and Silesia in the south of the country. There, the coronavirus infection numbers are among the highest in the country. The government in Warsaw plans to announce further details in the coming days.
