The first clinical studies for a CoV vaccine will begin in Israel in the coming week. A spokesman for the Ministry of Defense announced yesterday that the “necessary permits” to start clinical tests with the substance “BriLife” have been granted. At the beginning of the pandemic, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commissioned the Israeli Institute for Biological Research (IIBR) to develop the vaccine.
The clinical studies are scheduled for several months. „Our goal is to produce 15 million cans for the people of Israel and our close neighbors,“ said IIBR boss Shmuel Schapira.
Open more schools
In the meantime, the measures are being relaxed further – soon more children are expected to attend classroom classes again. As the government announced yesterday evening, from November 1st, first and second graders will be taught again for a few hours in the school buildings. The classes are divided into two groups.
The two groups then alternate each day for a few hours in face-to-face classes, while the other half of the school day has to be continued at home. Third and fourth graders should be fully taught in groups in the school buildings. The older students stay in homeschooling. Children under the age of six have been allowed to attend kindergartens and preschools again since last Sunday.
In Israel, a country with around nine million inhabitants, the measures have been eased again for a week. The Israeli Ministry of Health had registered 692 new infections with the corona virus for the previous day on Saturday. At the end of September, the number of infections had reached its previous high of more than 9,000. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,372 people have died linked to Covid-19 disease. No new infection numbers were published yesterday due to a technical problem.
