India passed the 50,000 coronavirus death threshold today. According to the website of the Ministry of Health, 50,921 people have died as a result of coronavirus infection, and more than 2.6 million are infected. The coronavirus is currently spreading rapidly in India, especially in rural areas, where the health systems are particularly poorly developed and protective measures such as wearing masks and distance rules are often ignored. Infected people are also often socially ostracized in these regions, which discourages people from getting tested.
