American showers should be allowed to use more water in the future – after President Donald Trump complained about the current environmental protection restrictions. Since the early 1990s, showers in the US have allowed a maximum of 2.5 gallons of water (just under 9.5 liters) per minute. In shower stalls with several nozzles, the limitation has so far counted for the total consumption.
According to an amendment proposal presented yesterday by the Ministry of Energy, the upper limit should instead apply to each of the nozzles. Once published, the plan will go into a discussion process.
Last week, Trump complained about showers with too weak a water jet while visiting a plant belonging to the building services manufacturer Whirlpool. „You turn on the shower – if you’re like me, you can’t wash your beautiful hair properly,“ said Trump, according to an official White House transcript: „You waste 20 minutes.“
During the factory visit in the state of Ohio, Trump also raved about the classic lightbulbs, which were cheaper and made better light than the new energy-saving lamps. That’s why he allowed the old light bulbs to be sold again, said the US President.
