After the explosion in Beirut, more than half of the hospitals in the Lebanese capital are „non-functional“. The World Health Organization (WHO) announced this today at an online press conference in Cairo. Hospitals are currently urgently needed: Thousands of people were injured in the disaster of the explosion a week ago, which left more than 170 dead.

According to its own information, the UN sub-organization examined around 55 clinics and health centers in the Lebanese capital. After last week’s devastating explosions, more than half of them were not ready for use, stated WHO expert Richard Brennan.
