The Brazilian police have broken up a camp of radical supporters of right-wing President Jair Bolsonaro in the capital city of Brasilia. A police officer used pepper spray against Bolsonaro supporters who had been on the esplanade between the ministries for weeks, as television pictures showed yesterday.
Right-wing activist Sara Winter from the 300 do Brasil group (300 from Brazil) asked Bolsonaro to respond on Twitter. Led by Winter, around 20 people broke the barrier around the congress yesterday afternoon and said they wanted to storm it. They were stopped by security forces.
The public prosecutor classifies the group as an armed militia around winter. The latter had set up camp on the esplanade between the ministries more than a month ago. Winter said in an interview with BBC Brasil that there were also armed men. Two weeks ago the 300 do Brasil with torches and white masks were deployed to the Supreme Court.
