Iran’s spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has attacked Israel sharply and described the country as a „tumor“ that needs to be destroyed. In a speech broadcast on the Internet, he praised Iranian arms deliveries to Palestinian organizations fighting Israel.
Leaders of militant Palestinian groups in the Gaza Strip, such as Hamas or Islamic Jihad, have repeatedly thanked Iran for its military and financial support. Khamenei himself had not yet publicly confirmed the arms deliveries. Iran does not recognize Israel’s right to exist.
