The US is spending $ 15 million to capture Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced this today. Attorney General Bill Barr also announced Maduro charges of „drug terrorism“.
Maduro has been charged by US investigators with leading a drug dealer ring called the „Cartel of the Suns“. In addition to government officials, the ring would also include Venezuelan military and judicial officials. The group is said to have smuggled hundreds of tons of cocaine.
Washington supports opposition leader Juan Guaido in the power struggle in Venezuela and has already imposed a number of sanctions against the Maduro government.
