Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s father will apply for French citizenship because of Brexit, according to a newspaper report. The mother of 79-year-old Stanley Johnson was born in Versailles, France, the Sunday Times reported today, citing a book by Johnson’s daughter Rachel.
„This is good news, I could also become French,“ writes Rachel Johnson in her book „Rake’s Progress: My Political Midlife Crisis“.
Stanley Johnson was one of the first British officials in Brussels to be a member of the European Parliament and the Commission. He was a strict opponent of Brexit until 2016, but then turned around. Britain’s exit from the EU was largely driven by his son Boris.
