Parliament Speaker receives Ambassador of China

On February 14, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Mongolia Chai Wenrui paid a courtesy call on Speaker of the Mongolian Parliament G.Zandanshatar.

Congratulating for presenting his diplomatic credentials to the President of Mongolia Speaker G.Zandanshatar expressed his delight with the arrival of Ambassador Chai Wenrui, ‘an old friend’ who knows Mongolia very well, to Mongolia.

At the meeting, the Chinese Ambassador conveyed the greetings of Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Li Zhanshu to the Speaker of the State Great Khural – Parliament G.Zandanshatar. He further noted that he is very pleased with the constant and successful growth of friendly relationship and cooperation between Mongolia and China in recent years.

Mentioning that China is adhering to a policy to enrich and deepen its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Mongolia, the Ambassador of China expressed his willingness to execute this policy during his tenure while maintaining close cooperation with Mongolia’s government organizations, and noted the importance of intensifying the cooperation by all means. “In the scope of the mutually beneficial economic ties between two nations, I am confident that the two countries will be working to advance actions to implement free trade agreement.” said the Ambassador.

After asking to convey his greetings to Chairman Li Zhanshu, Speaker G.Zandanshatar recalled that the Ambassador Chai Wenrui was working at the Chinese Embassy in Ulaanbaatar when he himself was serving as a Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and both were exerting all their efforts to establish strategic partnership of Mongolia and China at that time.

He also assured Mongolia’s solidarity with China, who is fighting to tackle the novel coronavirus outbreak and informed about some preventive measures being taken by Mongolia to prevent spread in the country. Speaker G.Zandanshatar also noted that Mongolia is hoping to soften the current quarantine regimes imposed by taking the situations into consideration”.

In turn, Ambassador Chai Wenrui said he is glad that there is no confirmed case of the Covid-19 in Mongolia while China is fighting to control the outbreak, making the lives and health of people a priority. He then expressed gratitude for the government and people of Mongolia for their assistance and support to China. “The quarantines regimes in place in Mongolia to protect the public health by no means should undermine the economic and business cooperation between Mongolia and China” said the Ambassador.

In conclusion, Speaker G.Zandanshatar highlighted that the Mongolian Parliament is eager to provide support to initiatives taken by the Ambassador designed for broadening and strengthening the bilateral partnership and wished good luck to the Ambassador for his future endeavors in Mongolia, who was appointed to Mongolia during the difficult time of public health emergency.
