Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Sarif has canceled his planned participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos. „Unfortunately, this trip will not take place,“ Foreign Office spokesman Abbas Mousavi told journalists in Tehran today. According to the Iranian news agency ISNA, the State Department did not give any reasons – only that Sarif’s plans had changed.

The economic forum takes place from tomorrow to Friday. Since 1971, politics, business, science, social actors and the media have met annually in Davos for the World Economic Forum. Economic, social and environmental policies are being discussed.

More than 3,000 participants want to come to the 50th edition, including EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen, US President Donald Trump and the Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg.
