
In Iraq, thousands of demonstrators attacked the US embassy in Baghdad today. They marched through checkpoints that regulate access to the high-security green zone in the city, shouted „Tod Amerika“, burned US flags and tore security cameras off the walls when Iraqi security forces tried to stop them, journalists from the AFP news agency reported.
The background is the anger of many Iraqis about US airstrikes last weekend, in which more than two dozen paramilitary fighters were killed.
