The Finnish government, which will lead the EU Presidency until the end of the year, is about to go out. The Liberal Center Party has said today that it has lost faith in Socialist Prime Minister Antti Rinne.
„We have told him this for the third time, twice yesterday and now again,“ said the party’s club leader, Antti Kurvinen, to journalists.
According to a report by the Finnish broadcasting station YLE, Rinne wants to declare his resignation later in the day. His government has no majority in parliament without the center party of Prime Minister Juha Sipilä, who was voted out of office in April.
Rinne has only been in office since June after his Social Democrats narrowly won parliamentary elections in April. He formed a party coalition of his Social Democrats with the Center Party, the Greens, the Left Party and the Swedish People’s Party.
