British Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis has described Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn as „unable to govern“. Corbyn was not able to stop the „poison“ of anti-Semitism in his party, Mirvis wrote today in The Times. The Labor leadership candidate for the next month’s parliamentary election in the past has repeatedly been accused of not opposing anti-Semitic votes in his party with enough determination.
„The way the party leadership deals with anti-Jewish racism is incompatible with the British values we are so proud of,“ said the commentary of the highest rabbi in the United Kingdom. British Jews were legitimately „afraid“. He called on the country’s citizens to vote „with their conscience“ in the parliamentary election on 12 December.
For Corbyn „real problem“
Since the inauguration of Corbyn in 2015, anti-Semitism allegations have repeatedly been made against the Labor Party. Some members have since left the party accusing Corbyn of allowing anti-Semitism to flourish in the party. In 2018, the Labor leader said anti-Semitism was a „real problem“ within his party that he wanted to „tear out“.
A Labor spokeswoman dismissed the Chief Rabbi’s recent allegations. She also disagreed with Mirvis‘ claim that „thousands“ of anti-Semitic charges remained unprocessed in the party. The Chief Rabbi’s criticism coincided with the idea of Labor’s anti-discrimination program, which wants to push the party through in the event of an electoral victory in the parliamentary elections.
