Former Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Ali Babacan wants to found a party before the end of the year to fight against the AKP of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The AKP founding member had given up his membership in July because of „deep disagreements“. „We want the party to be formed before 2020,“ Babacan told the Karar newspaper.
The AKP had suffered heavy losses in local elections in June. A rival party resulting from the AKP could lead to further erosion of Erdogan’s power base.
