115 refugees remain aboard the ship „Gregoretti“ of the Italian Coast Guard in the port of the Sicilian city of Augusta.

Although Germany has agreed to accept the refugees who had been rescued in the Mediterranean four days ago, Rome is still waiting for the official announcement by the EU that people will be redistributed.

16 minors between the ages of 15 and 17 were allowed to leave the ship yesterday.

On Saturday, a family of four had already landed with two children. The Red Cross brought garments on board. The hygienic situation on board was questionable, because the ship was not suitable for so many people, it was said.
200 dead off Libyan coast

On Thursday evening, Italian coastguard ships in the Mediterranean rescued around 140 people who had set off from Libya with two rubber dinghies and had been in distress. On the same day, off the coast of Libya, a refugee tragedy had occurred, in which up to 200 dead were feared.

The rescued were taken by the rescue ship of the Italian Coast Guard. The „Gregoretti“ refused the Italian Ministry of Interior but the entrance to an Italian port.

Meanwhile, the rescue ship „Alan Kurdi“ of the German NGO Sea-Eye has reached Libyan waters.

From the Italian Ministry of the Interior it was said that Italy’s ports were closed for rescue ships. Yesterday, 31 Iraqis arrived aboard a sailing boat from Turkey to reach the port of the southern Italian city of Crotone.
