After a double murder and another murder in western Canada’s province of British Columbia, police are searching for two young men. 18-year-old Bryer Schmegelsky and 19-year-old Kam McLeod are now considered „suspects,“ police spokeswoman Janelle Shoihet said yesterday.
The two Canadians had initially been considered „missing“. But they were last seen about 2,000 kilometers east of the crime scenes in the province of Saskatchewan, said the police spokeswoman. She warned that McLeod and Schmegelsky were „dangerous.“
Traveling couple killed
The crimes have been holding Canada in suspense for more than a week. Last Monday, in the north of British Columbia, on a highway, the bodies of 24-year-old US tourist Chynna Deese and her 23-year-old Australian friend Lucas Fowler were found. The young couple was shot.
On Friday, about 470 kilometers from the crime scene, the body of a previously unidentified man was found. He was near a burned-out car owned by McLeod and Schmegelsky. Of the two young Canadians initially lacked any trace.
No information on motive
Initially, the police did not want to establish a connection between the two cases, but then stated that it was examining the „possibility of a connection“. Now the police finally said McLeod and Schmegelsky were being searched as suspects in the murders. Information about a possible motive did not make the police.
