Following a double homicide in British Columbia, the police are investigating possible links to another death and the disappearance of two young men. Canadian police confirmed yesterday that a 24-year-old American and her Australian friend were shot dead in the north of the province last week.
Chynna Deese and 23-year-old Lucas Fowler have been victims of a violent crime, said police spokeswoman Janelle Shoihet at a press conference. The couple traveled through Canada and were found dead last week on the edge of a country lane.
The police launched a witness call yesterday to find a man Fowler had talked to the day before the crime. This man was „not a suspect,“ said police spokeswoman Shoihet. The investigators just wanted to question him.
Two teenagers missing
Shoihet also said that it is investigating the „possibility of a connection“ between the double murder and the death of a man whose body was found some 470 kilometers away. The body of the approximately 50-year-old man had been found on Friday in a remote area two kilometers away from a burnt-out pick-up. Of the 18 and 19-year-old drivers of the car missing since Thursday every lane. Bryer Schmegelsky and Kam McLeod are currently considered missing, Shoihet said.
The police spokeswoman said it was „unusual“ that there were two such investigations in the north of British Columbia at the same time. It is possible that the cases – the double murder and the death of the man and the disappearance of the young men – related. Shoihet called the population to vigilance.
