After the arson attack on a Japanese animated film studio in Kyoto with 34 dead, the police have obtained a warrant for arrest against the alleged perpetrators.
As Japanese media reported today, citing investigators, the 41-year-old suffered severe burn injuries all over his body.
The man had entered the studio on Thursday and called „Dying!“. He then shed about ten liters of gasoline with a bucket and lit the building. He allegedly accused the studio of having stolen an idea for a narrative.
Because of the severity of his burn injuries, the suspect was transferred by helicopter to a better-equipped clinic in Osaka. The investigators are now waiting for the man to be able to hear. Neither his place of residence nor his profession could be determined so far, it was said. But the police should have found his driver’s license. Accordingly, he is a resident of the neighboring province of Tokyo Saitama.
As the Japanese media further reported, citing informed circles, the man allegedly committed a robbery in 2012. He was released from prison for mental illness and since then has been living on state help for former inmates.
