Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to restore relations with neighboring Ukraine. At a meeting with pro-Ukrainian Ukrainian politician and businessman Viktor Medvedchuk in St Petersburg, Putin said yesterday that he was prepared to speak with „every political party“ in Ukraine.
According to polls, Medvedchuk’s party could come in second in the Ukrainian parliamentary election on Sunday with 14 percent of the vote.
„The full restoration of Russian-Ukrainian relations is extremely important to us,“ Putin said in the televised conversation with Medvedchuk. The Kremlin is ready to talk to any political party, „including yours,“ said Russia’s head of state. Medvedchuk had stated in the past that Putin was the godfather of his daughter.
