US President Donald Trump continues his visit to South Korea today with talks on the dispute over the North Korean nuclear weapons program. Trump wants to discuss with South Korean President Moon Jae In in Seoul about the further course of action in the conflict.
Negotiations with the Communist leadership in Pyongyang have stalled in Vietnam since the failed summit between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in February.
Quick meeting with Kim?
In addition, Trump plans a trip to the inter-Korean border. Prior to his arrival in South Korea, he had indirectly offered to Kim Jong Un via Twitter to meet him briefly in the demilitarized zone. What he wants to discuss with Kim there is unclear. It was also initially uncertain whether the meeting will come about.
North Korea had described Trump’s offer as very interesting. However, their government has received no official proposal, said First Deputy Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui state media. After a meeting with US soldiers in South Korea, Trump wants to fly back to the United States.
