US border police have discovered four bodies near the Rio Grande bordering Mexico, including three children. The Sheriff of Hidalgo County, Eddie Guerra, wrote on Twitter tonight that it seems to be dealing with the bodies of two infants, a toddler, and a 20-year-old woman. The Washington Post reported that the area was known to have migrants from Central America crossing the river to enter the US illegally.
The number of illegal border crossings from Mexico to the USA has increased dramatically in recent months. Last month, US border police arrested more than 144,000 people crossing the border illegally. In the same month last year, there were almost 52,000. US President Donald Trump has declared a national emergency on the border with Mexico and wants to build a wall there.
