The indictment of Julian Assange in the US goes far beyond Wikileaks. The house search at the public broadcaster ABC in Australia in early June has irritatingly parallel features. Like Assange in the US, the ABC journalists are accused of „treason allegation“.
They had cited a secret dossier referring to war crimes in Afghanistan by Australian units. A court ruling on the question of the legality of this search is expected in June.
Recently, US President Donald Trump accused the New York Times of treason, according to a report on cyberattacks by the NSA on Russia. It is no coincidence that the same accusations against journalists were made almost simultaneously, because the „Five Eyes“ spy alliance is directed by this global attack on investigative journalism.
