US motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson enters into a partnership in China despite fierce criticism from US President Donald Trump. The traditional US manufacturer announced today, together with the company Qianjiang Motorcycle from China to produce smaller motorcycles for the Asian market.
Trump is unlikely to be pleased with that, having attacked Harley-Davidson for planned relocation abroad and threatened with consequences. At times, Trump even supported boycott calls by its supporters against the 116-year-old US-based company from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Harley-Davidson has enough problems anyway. The company suffers not only from Trump’s customs policy, but also from falling sales – especially in the US home market. As a particular problem there is an aging conservative regular customers, in younger people Harley-Davidson has been a hard time for a long time.
