US President Donald Trump has reportedly received another „nice letter“ from North Korea’s ruler Kim Jong-Un. He said in Washington yesterday that he received a very personal and kind letter earlier this week. However, Trump did not comment on the content. But he emphasized – rather vaguely: „I think something very positive will happen.“
Asked about another possible personal meeting with Kim, the president said, „It could come to that.“ He did not become more specific. Trump and Kim had met each other at two summits in Singapore and Hanoi, the second meeting in Hanoi failed. North Korea ties Kims‘ basic commitment to nuclear disarmament to conditions, including a loosening of sanctions.
„His word kept“
North Korea also tested missiles after the meeting in Hanoi. However, the tests were not considered by the White House to be a decisive culmination of the situation. Trump said there were no nuclear tests and no long-range missile tests. With regard to Kim, the President emphasized: „He has kept his word to me. This is very important.“
Questions about Kim’s murdered half-brother
Looking at a newspaper report that Kim’s half-brother, Kim Jong Nam, murdered in 2017, was a CIA informant during his lifetime, Trump said he had heard about the report. Such a thing would certainly not have happened under his aegis. „I would not have allowed that.“
