Greenpeace activists have stopped a drilling platform en route to a BP oilfield in the North Sea.

The activists had driven in several boats to the 27,000-tonne drilling platform, as they just wanted to leave the cromacious Cromarty Firth north of the Scottish city of Inverness, said Greenpeace yesterday.

The environmental organization called on the group to stop drilling new oil wells immediately, investing only in renewable energy, or stop working and cash out investors.

BP said the group respects the right to peaceful protests. However, Greenpeace’s actions are irresponsible and activists endanger themselves and others.
