Amazon boss Jeff Bezos retains 75 percent of the company’s shares after divorce. The couple has announced this via Twitter, whose divorce is likely to become final within the next 90 days.

Still-wife MacKenzie Bezos should be with a fortune of then converted 32 billion euros to the fourth richest woman in the world. The 48-year-old receives four percent of the company shares. Her 55-year-old husband Jeff, who founded Amazon in 1994, still holds 12 percent of the company. MacKenzie has transferred her voting rights to him.

Despite divorce Bezos remains the richest man in the world. His fortune is estimated at 95 billion euros. Bezos can also keep the Washington Post and the space company Blue Origin.

Full of praise for each other

Their agreement was announced by the couple via Twitter. MacKenzie Bezos said she was „grateful“ that the divorce was now settled. She was satisfied with the agreement because her husband could continue to work for his wonderful companies. Jeff Bezos honored his ex-wife in a tweet as „an extraordinary partner, ally, and mother.“ She was imaginative and brilliant and loving, and while her ways now parted, he knew he would always learn from her.

In January, it became known that Jeff Bezos had a relationship with former news presenter Lauren Sanchez. The tabloid National Enquirer had posted text messages and photos of the two.

Amazon boss Bezos then accused the sheet to blackmail him – allegedly with the publication of intimate photos. The magazine had therefore demanded Bezos should publicly declare that the reporting of the Enquirer was not politically motivated. Bezos turned the tables in the spring and published e-mails from the Enquirer.

MacKenzie and Jeff Bezos met in 1993 in New York. Both were then with the hedge fund D.E. Shaw busy. The same year, even before Bezos founded Amazon, they got married. The two have four children together. In total, they were married for 25 years.
