The Vietnamese woman accused in the case of the murdered half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has been sentenced to three years and four months in prison. A Malaysian court found Doan Thi Huong guilty of injuring Kim with „dangerous means“.
Thus, the woman will probably be released after serving two years in custody already next month.
She was very lucky, said Judge and wished the woman „all the best“. Previously, the prosecutor had dropped the murder charge. Doan pleaded guilty and asked for leniency. If convicted of murder, the woman would have threatened with the death penalty.
Poisoning „accidentally“
Kim Jong Nam was killed in 2017 with a nerve drug in the airport of Kuala Lumpur. Doan was arrested about two years ago. An Indonesian woman, who was also arrested as a suspect, was released in March.
Both women claim that they did not know what they were doing. Supposedly, they thought they were going to put baby oil on someone else’s face for a TV hunt in the style of the Hidden Camera. In fact, it was neurotoxin. It is believed that North Korea’s intelligence service is behind the assassination.
