In a flash mob run completely out of control, security forces were bombarded with stones in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Police said some 600 young people had gathered in the city center last night and were running up and down the Zeil, a well-known shopping street. Not taking any account of passersby, the police intervened.
An officer was suddenly hit in the face by a teenager, the police said. The 17-year-old was arrested and slightly injured. In response to the arrest, stones had been thrown at police officers. Two hours after the start, the flash mob broke up. Why the young people gathered is still part of the investigation.
