Criminals in South Korea secretly filmed more than 800 couples with hidden cameras in sex in motels in three months and made the recordings live as porn on the internet. Two operators of the porn site were arrested, against two more will be determined.
Police said today in Seoul, four suspects in 42 rooms in a total of 30 motels installed surveillance cameras with millimeter-sized lenses in hair dryer mounts, socket covers and television receivers.
South Korea suffers from „Molka“ phenomenon
The images from the cameras were then transmitted live around the clock to the Internet. A porn website hosted by the suspects had around 4,000 subscribers. In addition, users could secure access to „exclusive“ content for about 40 euros per month – edited recordings of the „highlights“ among the recordings.
South Korea has suffered for years from the phenomenon of „Molka“ – videos recorded secretly with surveillance cameras. The mostly male offenders place the cameras on public toilets and in schools, for example. In 2017, more than 5,400 suspects were arrested in South Korea for such „Molka“. Less than two percent of the perpetrators were sentenced to prison terms.
