The ticket sale for the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv has been stopped because of irregularities. Kontrollore had discovered „attempts by several parties to intervene in the sales process,“ said the responsible for the transmission channel Kan today. Hundreds of regular-audience tickets have also been sold to media executives and officials.
Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan ordered a police investigation, his office said. There have also been reports of the concentrated purchase of tickets and the resale of tickets at up to two and a half times the price.
Criticism of high ticket prices
The ticket sale had started on Thursday evening. Tickets for the shows in May could be purchased through the Israeli provider Leaan. The first round of tickets for the final was sold out within minutes, Kan said. At a later date, more tickets will be offered.
The prices for the final on 18 May are, according to Kan, between the equivalent of around 280 and 490 euros. Tickets for the rehearsals for the semi-final shows are converted at around 73 euros. The ticket prices in this category had been lowered again. Previously, there had been criticism from fans of the overall high prices.
