The German holiday airline TUIfly fears this summer similar chaotic conditions at German airports as last year. „We can already see that the coming summer will be a challenge for all,“ said TUIfly CEO Oliver Lackmann the „Tagesspiegel“ (Monday issue).
There had been a significant increase in delays and cancellations in Europe over the last year – due to air traffic strike strikes, unusually high levels of severe weather and lack of security screening capacity. The German industry therefore agreed at an aviation summit in October measures to prevent such a chaos does not repeat.
„Air traffic control bottlenecks still“
But the conditions had hardly changed, said the former Niki boss Lackmann. „We still have bottlenecks in air traffic control and continue to see logistical difficulties at the airports with simultaneous growth in air traffic.“ TUIfly, which belongs to the travel group TUI, has done its homework and provided spare capacity, but can not eliminate the external factors.
In February, the Federal Association of the German Aerospace Industry (BDL) had already warned of another difficult summer.
