US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un are gathering in Hanoi (Vietnam) today for their eagerly awaited summit. The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday evening (local time), according to the White House.

After the welcome at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel, Trump and Kim want to have a 20-minute talk in private. Then both sides want to come together in a small group for about one and a half hour dinner.

Trump will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Mike Pompeo and his acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney. Tomorrow further talks with Kim are planned. The US president is seeking the „denuclearization“ of North Korea, that is, the nuclear disarmament of the country. Kim expects US rebates, such as easing sanctions.

Order for Boeing from Vietnam

Vietnamese airline VietJet and US aircraft maker Boeing have signed an agreement to buy 100 Boeing 737 Maxs. The deal was closed today in Hanoi on the sidelines of a Trump meeting with its Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Phu Trong. VietJet and Boeing had already signed a memorandum of understanding in July.

According to the information from that time the airplanes have a list price of more than 12.7 billion dollar (after today’s course approximately 11.2 billion euro). Boeing announced in July that the deal would make VietJet double its fleet of Boeing 737 Max. Only in 2016 had VietJet bought 100 aircraft of this type. VietJet is the first privately owned airline in Vietnam and the country’s first low cost airline.
