The Syrian Kurds have handed over 150 Iraqi supporters of the terrorist militia Islamic State (IS) to the security forces in the neighboring country. Katri al-Ubaidi, in a video that was distributed today by local media, said: „Most of them would have been wanted by the Iraqi judiciary,“ said the commander of a tribal militia in western Iraq. IS supporters have fought against Iraqis since 2014.

The opposition-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights in the United Kingdom reported that 150 of the people were IS fighters and their relatives. They were handed over to the Iraqi army. An army spokesman rejected the message, however. The information provided by the Observatory, which relies on a network of informants in Syria, is difficult to verify independently.

The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are currently near the Iraqi border against the last IS bastion in the country. In the village of Baghus several hundred jihadists are said to have entrenched themselves in a small space. Just yesterday, around 2,000 civilians and civil servants were taken by truck from the contested area.
