
A magnitude 3.7 earthquake was clearly felt last night in Rome. The epicenter at a depth of nine kilometers was 14 kilometers east of the capital, said the Italian Institute of Geology and Volcanology. Damage was initially reported none.
The Roman subway was subsequently closed in part for security checks. Numerous worried citizens called the fire department. The earthquake was felt especially in higher buildings in Rome. In the region of Abruzzo, which was once hit by heavy earthquakes, the vibrations were also felt.
