The German magician Jan Rouven has been sentenced to 20 years in the US for possessing and distributing child pornography. In addition, the court in Las Vegas yesterday also imposed a fine in the amount of $ 500,000 (437,981.78 euros), as a spokeswoman for the prosecutor of the German Press Agency announced.
The magician, who celebrated success in Las Vegas with his show „The New Illusions“, was arrested in March 2016. According to the indictment, investigators discovered thousands of videos and photos on laptops and other devices in Rove’s villa, including sex with children.
In the lengthy procedure Rouven changed his lawyer several times. He had initially denied the allegations, then in November 2016, his guilt in several charges granted and later requested to revoke his confession.
The court rejected this request last year and now set the sentence. The prosecution had demanded a good 30 years in prison, Rouvens lawyers hoped for a lesser sentence of eight years in prison.
